For anyone who’s ever been in a dilemma about those accumulating scraps of fabric… here’s a perfect solution, plus you’ll be contributing to a worthwhile cause. What I am referring to is the "Snuggles" project, which is a non-profit organization contributing different size blankets to animals awaiting adoption at various shelters. The Lee County (FL) Humane society is listed as a "Snuggles" shelter. The Snuggles blankets consist of 3 different sizes;
12" x 12" for cats and other small animals
24" x 24" for medium size dogs and animals
the largest 36" x 36" for large dogs and animals.
These are general guidelines, and can be made of any material, and can be as creative as you like. The animals would like them anyway you make them. Presently, the animals are kept in steel cages and would welcome a Snuggle blanket to cuddle up for warmth and comfort while awaiting adoption.
This is also a great project when the grandchildren come to visit! If you would like to get more information about this project, log on to www.h4ha.org. Be happy to make the trip to the Humane Society with your contribution!
